BREJERA

“In the spring of 2004 we see the beginning of Brejera when Mario Silva (Sao Paulo-Brazil) and Trevor Murray (Nova Scotia-Canada) started to experiment with samba and choro music together . From this point on the band was serving up styles of traditional samba, baião, frevo and choro . Venturing into a mix of Mario Silva on 7string guitar/vocals, Trevor Murray on cavaquinho/ vocals, Bruno Matos on pandeiro/vocals, Steve Bagnell on sax and Aiko Sato on trombone. Brejera will deliver authentic and spontaneous fine Brazilian music to the audience.”

BAD TOAST

“In late 2022, Bruno, Dan and Tiago decided, over a beer or two, to get together and jam and from the ashes of that session, Bad Toast was born. It didn’t take long for Kevin and Adrian to join the trio, fill in the gaps and make us that bit louder!

Today, the five piece is hungry for a slice of the Vancouver cover scene! Bringing with them a mix of rock and indie tracks from legends like the Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes, the Toasts are bound to get you on your feet and belting along!”

amarElas

“The band amarElas is a musical project that draws on the choral power of female Brazilian singers living in Vancouver. By combining their voices they harmonize along themes of femininity and identity, while emphasizing joy, love and vibrant colors. Their repertoire blends original music and songs from genres such as MPB, Samba, Forro, Bossa Nova to bring a new flavor to music of the Brazilian people in a diasporic context.”
