Celebrating Devon Martin: Mr Metro The Original East Van All-Star

The music community in Vancouver will gather on Sunday Oct 6th, to celebrate the life of Devon "Mr. Metro" Martin.

Devon Martin was an absolute cornerstone for many musicians in Vancouver and beyond, and he shared such incredible energy with his audiences.

He gave so much to his community, his vibe, heart and soul will never be forgotten.

Devon’s contribution to Canadian music is tremendous. He was the first Juno winner in the category of hip hop which validated and popularized Canadian hip hop. He was an integral part of reggae’s great reggae history as he was one of the few remaining musicians who benefited from the exposure and tutelage of legends Jackie Mitoo, Leroy Sibbles and the other reggae icons who migrated to Canada.

Devon’s contributions to Vancouver’s scene are extensive as an artist, producer and session player. He mentored and recorded countless artists over the years at his studio, The Metrodome.

Devon was a friend and brother to many. He aided and supported many people in Vancouver’s DTES.

Devon’s tremendous presence will be missed. This will be an evening to honour and celebrate Brother Dev, OUR East Van All Star!

Musicians performing will include members of the East Van All-Stars, Mad Riddim, Maffi and Crew, and many more shall share music in his honour.

Andy Cakes and Cordelia Donovan will be our MC's for the night.

All proceeds will go towards Devon's family.

Donations will be taken at the door.
